This guitar trio was formed from the friendship of the three performers. Maya Le Roux and Raymond Migy were both students of Dagoberto Linhares who is head of professional classes at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne.
The musicians began working together in 2000 when Maya Le Roux organised the ‘orientalism’ concert at the opening of the Salzburg Festival. She asked Mr. Linhares, Mr. Migy and Mr. Leu to play the Andalou Concerto by Joaquin Rodrigo for four guitars and orchestra who were accompanied by the Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg.
Most of the music played here is transcribed from symphonic pieces composed for the trio. Wanting to keep the dynamism and colour of the work and preserve the orchestration of the original compositions, the guitarists brought the percussionist Pascal Staufer to play with them. He adds a subtlety and grace to the programme which complements the delicate guitars.
The result is an unusual trio of guitars and percussion.
